Today was a trip to the Tower. We slept in so started late. The Tower is, obviously, one of the must see attractions in London but a couple of notes to improve it.
First, you can wait at the front gate and get a free tour by one of the Yeoman Warders. This isn’t to be missed as they will spend about forty-five minutes giving you some useful information and show you some of the interesting bits with commentary. Though it’s free I’ve tipped the man a couple of pounds each time. As the tour ends in the Royal Chapel I also put something in the Chapel Fund box.
Second, always give yourself a lot of time for the whole thing. There is a lot of walking to properly explore the Tower so you’ll need breaks and I’ve run out of time on both occasions I’ve gone. Four or five hours would be about right. There is a fairly good cafe inside and another on Tower Hill so you can have at least one break while eating a snack.
